การชะลอการเสื่อมคุณภาพของเมล็ดพันธุ์โดยการจัดการแมลงศัตรูในโรงเก็บ Thai Agricultural

Storage pests are one of the main causes of the seed quality deterioration. Thus, the aim of this research was to study the efficacy of phosphine fumigant in combination with plant pesticide powder to protect the rice seed from storage pests. The experiment was conducted at Pranakorn Si Ayutthaya Rice Research Center with 3 periods. The 1st period was during February to June, 2012. Sampling was kept with four replications to obtained amount and type of storage pests. The results showed that in 250 grams seed weight there were 4 storage pests in Lesser grain borer, Angoumois grain moth, Red flour beetle and Rice weevil with average amount were 66.8, 4.4, 1.2 and 0.5 respectively. Three kinds of volcanic ashes, namely clinoptilolite, pumice, and bentonite were tested in the year 2014 for the purpose of Si supply in order to increase brown planthopper resistance in rice. Longevity of adults, the number of nymphs, the number of eggs, percentage of hatching eggs, and survival percentage of 1st instar nymphs to adults were studied. Results from farmer’s trial found that silica in the leaf sheath of volcanic ashes plots were significant higher than control. But this amount of increased silica is not enough to control the brown planthopper population. Silica in the leaf sheath of Pathumthani 1 was significant lower than in RD41 and RD47. Brown planthopper resistant promising line, SPR94007-PTT-27-2-9-3-2, is photoperiod insensitive line derived from single cross of SPR1/IR64 made at Suphan Buri Rice Research Center in 1994. Its F2-F6 progenies had been grown and selected at Pathum Thani Rice Research Center where fixed line, SPR94007-PTT-27-2-9-3, were obtained. In 2008, this line and other breeding lines were tested for brown planthopper (BPH) resistance and intra-station yield trial. SPR94007-PTT-27-2-9-3 was not selected to be tested in further step due to its unsatisfied yield, but it was only 1 of 2 lines that had no damage of BPH in greenhouse testing. KLG02008-19-2-4-3, an promising non-glutinous, non-photoperiod sensitive rice line had been derived from a cross of KLG96001-3-1-2 and SPR90. The improved rice had been developed through the conventional breeding and selection method. The single cross hybridization had been made in 2002 at Klongluang Rice Research Center. An promising line has an erect and moderately strong clum with about 120 centimeters for transplanting and about 112 centimeters for seed broadcasting, 118 days maturity for transplanting and 114 days for seed broadcasting. Weedy rice problem is a serious threat to rice cultivation in Thailand particularly in irrigated rice growing area. Hence, “Modeling development project on managing strategies to reduce weedy rice infestation” had been carried out to reduce server weedy rice problem. This project was conducted at Moo 8 Suan Prig Thai, Muang district and Moo 5 Bueng Kho Hai, Lam Lul Ka district, Pathumthani province with 500 rai in 2013 and 2014 of demonstrated rice field.
